Class of '56

Class of 1956

Enka's Class of 1956 was treated to an exciting football game for their 50th reunion on Friday, October 13, 2006.  The Jets stunned Roberson by winning 32-22, which made the reunion that much sweeter. 

Fifty years ago, Enka High School graduated its first class.  The football team won the Buncombe County Championship with a record of 7 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie.  During half-time of the Roberson game, football players and cheerleaders from the Class of 1956 were recognized for their outstanding achievements.   

Ted Luther scored the first touchdown in Enka's history, while Scott Conner went on to be the head football coach at AC Reynolds.   Doris Stockton Smathers was Enka's first Homecoming Queen.  Meet the football players and cheerleaders by hovering your mouse over their pictures...
