Mr. Ben Alexander

Freshman Discipline, Testing, Communications
Alexander is an Enka alumnus from the class of 2005. After graduating
from Enka, Mr. Alexander lived as a foreign exchange student for a year
in Lecco, Italy. While in Italy he learned Italian and was able to
traverse Europe experiencing other cultures. He earned a BA in Latin
from the University of NC at Asheville, and a Master of Art in Latin
from the University of Georgia.
taught Latin in Red Bank, SC for two years, Mr. Alexander returned home
to Candler and his alma mater as the Latin teacher at Enka for three
years. During that time he completed his Master of Science in Education
Administration from the University of Scranton. He currently serves as
Enka's Assistant Principal in charge of communications, discipline and testing.
Alexander has always been an Enka Jet from his days as a student at
Enka, then as a teacher, and now as an administrator. A friend to many
faculty and staff members, a mentor to countless students, and known
throughout Candler by his red truck, Mr. Alexander is truly proud to be a
Mr. Jeff Burleson
Burleson began his career in 1991 as a student teacher at Enka High
school. Afterwards, he taught chemistry at TC Roberson High in 1992
where he also coached football and wrestling.
1995, he moved back to Enka High school as a chemistry and physics
teacher. He spent 18 years at Enka where he also coached football and
baseball. One of Mr. Burleson's favorite duties was as Enka's Student
Body Council Advisor, which he was fortunate to participate in for 15
20 years in education, Mr. Burleson chose to pursue a career as an
administrator and served as the Assistant Principal at AC Reynolds High
School. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University and attended
graduate school at Gardner Webb. Mr. B is excited to be back at his
home school and looks forward to serving as Enka's Assistant Principal
in charge of curriculum, discipline and registration.
Mrs. Katie Harris

Discipline 10-12: A-M, Transportation, Building & Grounds
Katie Harris is an Enka alumna from the class of 2005 where she played volleyball, basketball and softball. After graduating from Enka, Mrs. Harris continued her softball career at Mars Hill University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a licensure in Elementary Education.
Mrs. Harris then returned home to Enka and began working with Buncombe County Schools where she coached volleyball and softball, taught 5th grade Math/Science at Candler Elementary, as well as 6th grade ELA/Social Studies at Enka Intermediate. During this time, she obtained a Master of Arts in Elementary Education and Executive Leadership from Gardner-Webb University.
As an Assistant Principal of Enka, Mrs. Harris will be responsible for transportation, buildings and grounds, and discipline 10-12 grade (A-M). Throughout her career, Mrs. Harris has always been proud to be a Sugar Jet and is excited to continue that tradition as an administrator.
