Originally from Eastern North Carolina, I am myself, a product of Career Technical Education. As a junior in high school, I became interested in architectural drafting and design through the instruction of my high school drafting teacher. I enrolled in Pitt Community College, Greenville, NC and earned an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Architectural Technology in 1996. With some post-secondary education under my belt, I was able to to use my skills to find and maintain employment in the Design-Build industry over the next six years.
In 2003 I accepted a teaching position at Northern Nash High School in the Nash-Rocky Mount School system in Rocky Mount, NC where I then resided. I have been teaching for five years now, and it is the most rewarding job I've ever had. I've had the opportunity to be a positive influence on many teenagers during those formative years when they were making so many important decisions about the direction of their lives.
In 2007 I was named Northern Nash High School's Teacher of the Year. In the same year I was tempted by the beautiful scenery of Western North Carolina and the inviting atmosphere here at Enka High, to make another life changing decision. In January of 2008 I moved to Candler, NC to teach drafting at Enka High School. So far it has been a great experience and I look forward to building Enka High's Drafting Program to one of the best in the area.
