Course Overview
  •  Welcome to my courses: Remediation times are in Smart Period where students are encouraged to get the extra help they need for make- up work or to just catch up on their current assignments. 
 - Housing and Interiors-
  • Examines housing and interior decisions that individuals make based on their needs, the environment, and technology.
  •  The student will learn to select goods and services that create functional and pleasing living environments based on sound financial decisions and design principles. 
  • An emphasis is put on Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competitive events, leadership skills and experiences.

_ Apparel 1
  • Students will emphasize the basic skills in the development of garment construction. They will also apply technical knowledge and express creativity by designing garments according to individual needs and preferences.
  • Students will complete 4 projects.
  • Instructional activities included in the areas of art, basic skills, critical thinking, teamwork, technology, and workplace readiness.
  • An emphasis is put on Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competitive events, leadership skills and experiences.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      -                                                                       Apparel 2
  •  Students in this course will gain a deeper understanding of design principles, engineering, fabrication and global needs of an ever-changing Apparel and Textile industry.  
  • The course provides a major focus on textile design, textile science, product construction, global manufacturing and the apparel/textile market. Emphasis is placed on application of design and engineering skills used to create, produce and prepare a product for market.
  • Students will also gain the entrepreneurial skills necessary for successful marketing and distribution of an apparel product.
  •  Work-based learning strategies workplace readiness skills  and  are reinforced. An emphasis is put on Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competitive event , leadership skills and experiences.

Career Management

·         Students will explore individual, family and community systems and life literacy skills for  development.

·         Activities engage students to explore various help professions while building essential life skills they can apply for their own lives.

·         Work based learning strategies are taught with emphasis on leadership and opportunity that apply with workplace with place readiness skills.

·         An emphasis is put on Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competitive events, leadership skills and experiences.


Teacher expectations-
  • We explore these topics in a variety of ways, often using project based learning experiences.
  • I grade on a point system, converted to percentage for the report card. At the end of the semester students will take the elements end of the course test which counts for 25% of their grade. I do require a notebook and suggest that the student keep all work and notes given in the class.
  • Students are expected to produce quality work, and be highly involved in classroom activities.
  • I expect students to be on their best behavior, use good manners and be respectful of all students in the class.
