Reality of MoneyThanks to the State Employees Credit Union for sponsoring a financial event for Enka High students called Reality of Money on October 9, 2018. Also, thanks to all the volunteers who gave their time to assist with this event.

The Reality of Money activity allowed students to experience making financial decisions about paying for housing, transportation and other monthly expenses as they were “transformed” into young adults with jobs and other responsibilities to manage. Volunteers assisted students as they moved through various expense stations. Students were exposed to various financial learning points such as: the value of furthering their education after high school, the limiting effect bad credit has on their lifestyle choices and how to “live within their means.”

This was a great opportunity for SECU, parents, and community volunteers to work side by side with Enka High faculty to help students prepare for their financial future. This hands-on activity ignited student passion for financial literacy and experiential learning!
