International Thespian Society
An honor society for Performing Arts students
The International Thespian Society has been honoring excellence in the work of theatre students since 1929. Thespian troupes serve students in grades nine through twelve, and Junior Thespian troupes serve students in grades six through eight. There are at present active ITS troupes in more than 3,900 high schools and middle schools, mostly in the United States and Canada.  The Society recently inducted its two millionth Thespian. Students must complete 100+ hours of service or performance in our school performing arts department. Students are then eligible for participation in the state festival and even attendance/performance at the national level.
Enka proudly has one of the oldest troupes in the state--#72! We do not know what year it was instated but our troupe was reinstated under the direction of Mrs. Stanley Marino in 2008. Every year we have attended the State festival at the UNCSChool of the Arts campus. In 2015, the festival out grew the NCSA and is now in varied locations around the state.

Many students have performed and showed their technical skills at the state festival. In 2015, Shana Franklin was one of many excellent and superior scores, earning a superior in scene design.
