Chorus brings in $1,400 for Eblen Charities
Enka High School raised over $10,000 for Eblen Charities during the month of October.  This is a record amount of money raised by our school.  Each year, Mrs. Laura Roberts and the Junior Civitan Club organize this event, which raises money to help needy people in our community.

Most of the money was brought in by classes who purchased or sold Eblen pumpkin cards.  The top 3 classes in the school raised the majority of the money, but other activities included selling dress down stickers to the faculty and staff.

Mr. Robert Summerell's 1st period Chorus Class raised the most money for Eblen by bringing in $1,401.02.

Mr. Bohanon's 1st period class raised $1,325.12, while Mr. Frady's class brought in $767.99.

Mr. Summerell said his class worked really hard to win the class competition.   "I tried to show the students my excitement for trying our best to do a good thing for our community.  Some days we would raise $35 and I'd ask, "Can we make it $40?!  Let's give back to Eblen!"  We also had several students who asked for sponsorships from parent-owned businesses.  I think it all boils down to the fact that Eblen is truly a wonderful organization that kids are willing to give their support to.  All fundraising incentives aside, our kids have heart and I think that is evident by the total amount we raised together as a school."

As a special treat, our principals dyed their hair blue in support of our students who went above and beyond this year to make a difference in the community!
