Dawn Rookey has worked for Buncombe County Schools since 2001. A veteran teacher of twenty-one years, Ms. Rookey taught high school English and was the 2013 Buncombe County Schools Teacher of the Year.  She earned a Master of Arts in English from Western Carolina University as well as a Master in School Administration. She also holds National Board Teaching Certification, which she earned in 2007 and renewed in 2017.


As an assistant principal of Enka high school, Ms. Rookey is responsible for testing, communications, student activities, and discipline, grades 10-12 (N-Z). 


Ms. Rookey is thrilled to be a part of the Enka community and proud to be a Jet!

Katie Harris is an Enka alumna from the class of 2005 where she played volleyball, basketball and softball. After graduating from Enka, Mrs. Harris continued her softball career at Mars Hill University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a licensure in Elementary Education.

Mrs. Harris then returned home to Enka and began working with Buncombe County Schools where she coached volleyball and softball, taught 5th grade Math/Science at Candler Elementary, as well as 6th grade ELA/Social Studies at Enka Intermediate. During this time, she obtained a Master of Arts in Elementary Education and Executive Leadership from Gardner-Webb University.

As an Assistant Principal of Enka, Mrs. Harris will be responsible for transportation, buildings and grounds, and discipline 10-12 grade (A-M). Throughout her career, Mrs. Harris has always been proud to be a Sugar Jet and is excited to continue that tradition as an administrator.


Caleb HarbinMr. Caleb Harbin

Caleb Harbin is a 2011 graduate from Pisgah High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. After high school, he continued his academic and athletic career at Mars Hill University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Education and played baseball. Upon graduating, he taught at Erwin High School where he was also named the Head Baseball Coach. During his time at Erwin, he furthered his education at Gardner-Webb University and obtained his Master of Arts in Executive Leadership. Enka has always been a special place to him and his family. He is excited to make Enka his home! 

Mr. Harbin will be responsible for transportation, buildings and grounds, and freshman discipline.
