To register for Digital Media or the Adobe Academy, please see our Career Development Counselor in I-125, or talk to your navigator. I also teach journalism. In journalism we produce the yearbook and report on the positive things that are happening here at Enka. Applications are announced in the spring and interviews are scheduled for potential staff members. Stop by to see me about my classes anytime in I-110 or drop me an email at joan.hoffman@bcsemail.org!
You can reach the yearbook information page by going to the Enka homepage and clicking on the link on the right side of the page.
My purpose in maintaining the site is to serve as a conduit to my classroom, study pages, etc. New this year is Canvas. I have started training and have implemented the online content delivery system in my honors courses this year. It has replaced my classroom moodle and it works more closely with our grading software, "Power School."

Please use the links on the left to explore my website, and feel free to contact me via email anytime. I do check my email in the evening and on weekends, so I would encourage students and parents to drop me an email with any questions.

About Mrs. Hoffman
I am a highly qualified teacher, holding a North Carolina teaching license in K-12 Art, Printing Graphics and Digital Media.
I began teaching a commercial art pathway class called Graphic Arts at the Career Education Center in February of 2006. In the fall of 2011 my program opened here, at Enka High School. In 2014 I began the transition to teaching Digital Media and the Adobe Academy and this two years ago I also took over the job of teaching Journalism and producing the ENKANOCA, our school yearbook.

I have been moonlighting at the Biltmore Estate for several years now to earn some extra cash! If you are interested in working there, talk to me about it.

My academic interests include photography, film making, ceramics, and fine art printmaking. I also enjoy hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains with my canine cohorts, Sasha and Abbie. Sasha is a fantastic mutt I happened upon at Brother Wolfe Animal Rescue. She is a wonderful gem I am proud to have as a family member. Abbie is our toddler doggie from the eastern side of the Carolinas. She seems to come from a long line of curious couch potatoes.

A few years back I received my National Board Certification. This process took several years from start to finish, and candidacy is rigorous BUT certification is granted on a 10-year renewal cycle - which I think is pretty fantastic. Proudly, I passed on my first time out. I had wonderful advice and support, which was an essential part of the venture.
My big news these days is my first child, Charlotte. Born a few days early, she held out until 3PM on the Friday of spring break! I immediately left school for the hospital.  She is a wonderful blessing that my husband and I are super excited about.
