Welcome to Mr. McGill's class

I'm a 39-year old journalist-turned-teacher. I've called Enka High home now for 9 years, and I will be teaching English 3 and English 1 during the 2021-22 Fall/Spring semesters. I also coach the boys soccer team as well as work with our Guild of Mountaineers Enka (GOME) on outdoor adventures - like an annual Enka-to-Mt. Pisgah hike.

I grew up an Army brat from Fayetteville before adopting the mountains in 2000. I graduated from UNC Asheville in 2004 and worked eight years as a reporter and copy editor with the Asheville Citizen-Times before changing careers. These days, you'll find me running streets and trails in preparation for my next race, tending to some city chickens, or strumming a guitar on my West Asheville front porch. I'm always interested in finding that next sweet camping spot, so feed me your suggestions.
