Three recent Buncombe County Schools graduates who spent their high school years helping others have received scholarships from the Kiwanis Club of Asheville.
The students were members of Key Club, an international student-led service organization that provides members with opportunities to build character and develop leadership. Key Club is part of the Kiwanis Club service leadership programs, a global organization of members dedicated to serving children worldwide.
Enka High School Key Club members Emily Tinajero-Galan and Taylor McHone each received a $1,000 Kiwanis Scholarship. Tinajero-Galan will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. McHone will attend UNC-Charlotte.
Hannah Anderson of the A.C. Reynolds High School Key Club, also received a $1,000 scholarship. She will attend East Tennessee State University.
