The United States Air Force has honored Enka High School’s Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Core (JROTC) with the Distinguished Unit Award.
“The Distinguished Unit Award recognizes personal growth and accomplishments of the cadets, contributions of the instructors as mentors, and the support of the school and local community,” said Lt. Col. Matthew Tipton, director of the Air Force JROTC. “Certainly, units are doing great things in their respective communities, but Enka High School's Air Force JROTC truly represents one of the best of our 828 Air Force/Space Force JROTC units worldwide. The importance of service and understanding how it positively impacts our cadets, schools, communities, and our nation is fundamental to our AFJROTC mission of ‘developing citizens of character’ for America."
The Air Force also named Msgt. Douglas Draper and Major Ken Den Boer as Outstanding Instructors.
Congratulations to the Enka JROTC program!
