Two Buncombe County Schools Educators have been honored by the North Carolina High School Athletics Association (NCHSAA) Foundation.
Enka High School’s Brian Carver received the Dave Harris Athletic Director Award of Excellence. The award recognizes athletic directors who are role models for their peers, demonstrate excellent leadership, and exemplify integrity and fairness. Coach Carver was lauded for his impacts felt beyond campus, including Operation Christmas Child and the Coaches vs. Cancer Shootout, which have raised more than $210,000 and reflect his commitment to using athletics as a platform to serve others. The Dave Harris Award is named in memory of the longtime coach and athletic director for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, who served student athletes for more than 40 years.
The NCHSAA Foundation honored BCS District Athletics Specialist David Ball with the Jimmy Tillman Legacy Award for his dedication to excellence in school athletics. The award is a tribute to the late Jimmy Tillman, a long-time North Carolina educator and association Hall of Fame member who earned Coach of the Year honors in football, baseball, and softball.
The awards were presented June 10 at the NCHSAA annual awards ceremony in Greensboro.
