🎤🎶 Last week, the Enka High School and Enka Middle School choruses had an extraordinary opportunity to learn from one of the world’s most celebrated vocal ensembles, Chanticleer.

Known for their Grammy-winning performances and breathtaking harmonies, Chanticleer conducted a special Master Class exclusively for Enka students on Friday at the Diana Wortham Theatre in Asheville. Chanticleer’s visit coincided with their sold-out concert at the Diana Wortham Theatre that evening. The Master Class, open only to Enka Middle and High Chorus students, gave more than 50 young artists the chance to refine their vocal techniques and performance skills under the guidance of elite musicians.

“When the Master Class ended, all I was thinking about was how amazing it was and how I wished it was longer,” said eighth grader Naiya Nelli. “I learned so much, not just how to be a better singer but also the fun that comes with it. I know that this is probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I'm so grateful that I got to experience such an amazing event. So, all I have to say is, thank you, Chanticleer, for letting me and others experience this.”

"Working with Chanticleer was an incredible experience," added senior Tessa Sprinkle. "i found it really helpful for them to come help and support singers of all ages. it is a moment i will cherish in my singing career."

During the Master Class, the Enka High and Middle School Choruses, directed by James Markey and Amy Almquist respectively, performed pieces they prepared in class. Members of Chanticleer provided personalized feedback, helping students refine their craft in a collaborative and inspiring environment.

“The significance of this event cannot be overstated,” Markey said. “Chanticleer’s mastery of harmony and artistry is unmatched, and for these students to receive direct coaching from them is an honor that will inspire and elevate their musical growth. It’s rare for young singers to interact so closely with artists of Chanticleer’s caliber, and this experience left a lasting impact on the students’ musical development.”
